Scottish Provident is part of the Royal London Group. This award winning life assurance group specialises in providing critical illness cover, unemployment cover and life cover. According to the site’s statistics it has paid out over £89 million in critical illness claims – although I don’t know the context of these statistics. I think a better statistic to espouse would be what percentage of claims did they payout!

Scottish Provident boasts that they have received more accolades for their life assurance products than any other life insurance provider – have gained 5 stars from Defaqto for their Level Term Critical Illness, Decreasing Term Critical Illness and Standalone Critical Illness policies.

Scottish Provident Offer 3 types of cover

  • Life Cover – which pays out a lump sum
  • Income Protection Cover- which provides a monthly sum if you can’t work as a result of accident, sickness or disability.
  • Critical Illness Cover which pays out a lump sum  or monthly income if you’re diagnosed with one of the prescribe ailments eg cancer

A nice wee addition is that they make available Unemployment Cover when you take out another benefit within their Mortgage plan. So make sure you ask the adviser about this if you’re considering taking out their Mortgage Plan.
